Highway "Kolyma"

The famous Kolyma highway, a road built by prisoners of the Gulag. The road on the bones, where each village is a piece of the history of Dalstroy, the road about which the famous Shalamov and Solzhenitsyn wrote.
More than 2000 km. roads that pass through the mountain system of the North-East of Siberia, cutting through narrow canyons and high passes.

Federal highway P504 "Kolyma" (formerly M56) is an active highway of federal significance between Yakutsk and Magadan with a length of 2032 km, of which 1197 km are laid along the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), 835 - along the Magadan Region. The road also has a historical name - the Kolyma highway, by which it is known in literature and the media (some authors use the synonym - Kolyma tract).

Currently, Kolyma is one of the key highways of the Russian Far East. It connects Yakutia and the Magadan region, is the only road terminal of the eastern part of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the western and central parts of Magadan region, provides access to the Pacific coast.
